Developer withdraws from Jackson Line Street project; county offers property swap for a parking lot

The unnamed commission member said they will obtain a written statement from the developer confirming his withdrawal and that city staff will pursue other developer prospects. The member added that building plans and preliminary designs are on file but that several design details had not won full support from building planning staff.
Commission members also said county officials have proposed a property swap: the county would offer the Washington and Van Buren Street parcel in exchange for the Jackson and Lyon property. A commission member described the county’s intended use as a ‘‘paid parking lot.’’ The member said the swap was an option rather than a finalized agreement and that the commission would consider whether to pursue alternative developers or accept the county’s proposal.
No formal vote or transfer of title on the Jackson Line Street or the Washington/Van Buren parcels took place at the meeting. Staff said they would meet later this month to continue outreach to other developers and to follow up on the county’s offer.
