Winkler Elementary outlines improvement goals after enrollment jump, adds intervention staff

Winkler Elementary Principal Joel Graham told the Burlington Area School District school board that enrollment at the southern elementary rose from about 126 students to 208 this year and that the school has used every available space to accommodate the growth.
"I'm extremely proud of our staff's commitment, to our students, our school district, and the community," Joel Graham said during the presentation, listing new staff and programs added since the school became a two‑section building.
Graham said the school added a full‑time reading and math interventionist and a full‑time counselor this year. Because the building is using all available rooms, specials such as art and music have at times been held in the cafeteria, and some interventions occur in hallways.
