District staff said the trip is not tied to a specific class; it is an elective program organized by teacher Miss Nossum with a travel company. Administrators told the board the group likely needs eight to 10 students to proceed and that early board approval was requested so students could begin fundraising and monthly payments two years in advance.
The board also noted it only requires formal approval for out-of-country travel; out-of-state trips require district notification but not board approval. No additional conditions or funding allocations were made at the meeting.
