The Johnston County Board of Education approved procurement of furniture packages for three school projects and directed staff to move forward with purchases from state contract vendors and available capital/bond funds.
Staff reported they requested and received quotes from six state purchasing contract vendors and recommended buying furniture for Swift Creek Elementary and Cooper Academy from Stor Education using 2022 bond funds. For Cleveland High School’s addition, staff recommended a furniture package from Interior Systems Incorporated charged to Cleveland additional capital funds. A board member asked whether the Cleveland additional capital funds were the same as the county commissioners’ capital allocation; staff clarified those funds are a one-time budgeted capital allocation and are not part of the district’s $3,000,000 operating capital line.
A motion to approve the furniture purchases was moved by Mr. Donovan and seconded by Mr. Tippett. The board voted by voice; all present indicated aye and the recommendation was approved.
