Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 1 hears bond reinstatement, travel request and interlock removal motion; multiple cases set for pretrial

The judge presiding over Fort Bend County Court at Law No. 1 convened a virtual docket and addressed motions and status updates across several criminal cases, including a conditional reinstatement of bond, a travel authorization, and a denied motion to remove an ignition interlock device.

The judge granted a conditional reinstatement of bond for defendant Brandon Scott Holmes after defense counsel asked the court to reinstate bond following a bond forfeiture and a later issuance of a capias. The judge ordered Holmes to appear in person with counsel on Friday at 8:30 a.m. to enter a new docket control order; once the order is signed, the judge said the capias would be withdrawn and the bond reinstated. Defense counsel told the court that Holmes "will assure the court that he will make any and every court day, on time without fail." The state indicated it would leave reinstatement to the court's discretion so the case could be placed back on the docket for resolution.
