St. Mary's County Planning Commission elects chair, continues two zoning hearings and schedules community visioning sessions

Representing the applicant for the Cusick property, an applicant representative asked the commission to continue that hearing because a full commission was not present. The commission granted the continuance to Jan. 27, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the commissioners' meeting room in Leonardtown. The applicant's representative told the commission that staff had confirmed that date.
For the Goddard Road zoning-map amendment, counsel said the applicant would be unavailable on the commission's next hearing date and requested a continuance to Feb. 24, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the commissioners' meeting room in Leonardtown. The commission approved that continuance by voice vote.
Planning staff also announced a set of six 90-minute community visioning sessions connected to the county's 2050 planning efforts. The sessions and the dates stated in the meeting were: Jan. 16 (two sessions, 1–2:30 p.m. and 3:30–5 p.m.) at the Lexington Park Library; Jan. 17, 1:30–3 p.m. at the Charlotte Hall Library; Jan. 18, 1:30–3 p.m. at the Leonardtown Library; Jan. 22, 6–7:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Hall Library; and Jan. 30, 1:30–3 p.m. at the Lexington Park Library. Staff said the sessions would follow the same format and that information would be posted on the county’s 2050 website.
No statutory citations or other legal authorities were referenced on the record during these items. The continuances reschedule the two zoning-map amendment public hearings; no substantive hearing on those applications occurred at the Jan. 13 meeting.
