Hampton Schools to make up missed instruction Jan. 28; high school exams set for Jan. 21–24

Superintendent Raymond Haynes used the Jan. 8 board meeting to update the board and public on schedule changes after recent inclement weather. He said students returned from winter break and that the division had used banked instructional time to cover Monday's closure. To make up the instructional day missed on Tuesday, Jan. 28 — originally planned as a professional development day — will now be a full instructional day for students. The Monday, Jan. 27 teacher work day will be changed to a half-day of teacher work time and a half-day of professional development.
Haynes also noted that all schools and offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. High school students will take first-semester exams Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24 and will follow the high school exam schedule. He added the division's second "Citizen of the Month" luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 30.
