Council tables review of preliminary compensation-study financial impact

At the Jan. 14, 2025 City of Odessa work session, the council voted to table an item reviewing the financial impact of preliminary figures from a compensation study.
Kaylee Bond, a city finance staff member, told the council that Gallagher’s initial numbers did not include vacancies and that staff had already contacted Gallagher to provide the missing data. Bond said the numbers would be incomplete and “what good is that for decision making?” and recommended waiting for a finalized report.
Councilmember Musky moved to table the item; Councilmember Thompson seconded. The council chair called the question and the motion “carries unanimously,” and the item was tabled for future presentation after staff receives the updated Gallagher analysis.
Ending: The council then moved to adjourn the work session; the motion to adjourn passed unanimously.
