Springfield Planning Commission elects officers, approves Dec. 3 minutes

The Springfield Planning Commission approved its Dec. 3, 2024 minutes and elected a slate of officers and committee liaisons in a unanimous roll-call vote at the regular meeting following the commission’s work session.

Acting Chair Commissioner Buck called for nominations and the commission agreed to a slate: Commissioner Buck as chair; Commissioner Schmunk as vice chair; Commissioner Weber as council liaison; Commissioner Driggs as liaison to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC); and Commissioner Greenwell as liaison to the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC). The commission approved the slate by roll-call vote with all present commissioners recorded as voting “aye.” Commissioner Driggs, Commissioner Greenwell, Commissioner Schmunk, Commissioner Weber and Commissioner Buck were recorded as voting in favor.

Earlier in the meeting, the commission approved the Dec. 3, 2024 minutes; the minutes were accepted without correction and recorded as approved.

Commissioners and staff also confirmed upcoming meeting logistics: a work session of the commission’s committee for citizen involvement will meet Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. to review an engagement plan for floodplain code amendments needed to comply with FEMA requirements; the commission’s regular schedule for February was also noted. Staff reminded commissioners that BPAC meets on Tuesday evenings every other month and that subcommittee schedules vary.

Commissioners discussed committee workloads and expectations for liaisons; several commissioners volunteered or confirmed availability for the liaison roles. Commissioner Thompson, who was absent, provided written input indicating a willingness to serve as vice chair if no other nominee had been available. No contested election or amendments to officer assignments were recorded. The roll-call vote on the slate was announced as passed unanimously by the chair: “Motion passes unanimous.”
