Putnam County Commission appoints Doug Pearson, reappoints Andy Skidmore and fills two local boards

Putnam County commissioners on Jan. 14 voted to fill a commission vacancy by appointing Doug Pearson and reappointed Andy Skidmore as commission president, while also approving two other board appointments.
The commission voted unanimously to appoint Doug Pearson after the Republican Executive Committee submitted three names to fill the vacancy. County staff told commissioners the executive committee had followed its process by forwarding three nominees: Mark Drennan, Doug Pearson and Ron Stone. The commission made the appointment after a motion and second; all present answered “aye.”
Commissioner Ellis, speaking after the vote, said the pool of 21 applicants demonstrated strong interest and said, “The north side of the river deserves good representation,” endorsing Pearson’s selection. The commission said Pearson is expected to complete any required swearing-in before attending the Jan. 28 meeting.
Earlier in the meeting the commission approved two board appointments and a reappointment of Williams of the commission leadership. The commission reappointed Andy Skidmore as commission president by motion and unanimous voice vote. The commission also appointed Kathy Gold Eisen to the Putnam Union Public Service District board, term effective Jan. 14, 2025, through Jan. 15, 2031, and appointed Andrew Bragg Jr. to the Putnam County Community Criminal Justice Board with a term effective Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2028. Each appointment passed following a motion, a second and unanimous “aye” votes.
The commission thanked applicants Mark Drennan and Ron Stone for applying and noted the appointment process included interviews and referral to the party executive committee. Commissioners said they found the candidate pool unexpectedly large and that the executive committee’s submittal helped narrow choices.
No additional conditions or staggered terms were attached to the appointments as recorded in the meeting minutes.
