Commissioners also authorized an emergency purchase of one heating boiler and one hot-water boiler from McWilliams & Sons for the jail, citing forecasted subfreezing temperatures and ongoing heating problems; staff reported a purchase amount of $74,900 to address the immediate safety and habitability concern. The court noted that although all boilers ultimately may need replacement, the emergency authorization would allow immediate work and later bidding for remaining units.
The court reviewed several flooring proposals for the Buddy J. Purvis building (leased to Corrigan Medical Clinic operated by James Bledsoe, PA). After comparing proposals, maintenance recommended DP Flooring Care’s glued-down vinyl-plank quote as the lowest turnkey option; the packet listed the DP Flooring Care quote for glue-down vinyl plank at $23,864.61 including furniture moving and turnkey services. The court approved proceeding with DP Flooring Care’s quoted scope.
Maintenance superintendent Grady Woods reported that initial bids for a generator replacement at the Dunbar complex were later found unnecessary because the generator was serviceable; the court rejected the earlier bids and took no replacement contract. The court also authorized advertising a bid packet to replace three air-conditioning units at the Polk County Jail and directed procurement staff to solicit competitive bids.
