Council schedules final readings for three Waterville Landing plats; planning commission recommended approval

The City of Waterville City Council reviewed second readings on three subdivision plats at Waterville Landing and scheduled the third reading and potential final approvals for Jan. 27, 2025.

The council considered ordinance 1424, the final plat for Farnsworth Village at Waterville Landing, Plat 6. John (Municipal staff) said the plat contains 15 lots and that the Planning Commission recommended approval at its Dec. 2, 2024 meeting. The item remains at second reading; the council will take final legislative action Jan. 27.

Councilmembers also reviewed ordinance 1524 (Fiddlers Green at Waterville Landing Plat 3) and ordinance 1624 (Fiddlers Green Plat 4). John said Plat 3 includes 20 lots and Plat 4 includes 19 lots; both were recommended for approval by the Planning Commission at its Dec. 2 meeting. John stated there are conditions of approval the developer must meet before the city will finalize and sign the plats; for Plat 4 he said there are seven conditions that must be satisfied prior to final signature and recordation.

Council members asked whether the developer would attend the final reading; John said he would notify them so they could be present on Jan. 27. Council discussion included a question about how long it typically takes a developer to sell lots; John estimated roughly two years, noting recent five‑year averages for single‑family home construction in the city.

The council took no final votes on any of the plats on Jan. 13; all three items remain scheduled for the Jan. 27 meeting for third reading and possible adoption.
