Oakwood accepts resignations and retirement notices; personnel actions approved for 2024-25

The Oakwood Board of Education on Jan. 13 accepted multiple personnel recommendations for the 2024-25 school year.
The board accepted the resignation of Dr. Kimby Lang from the position of Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Gifted, effective July 31, 2025. The superintendent noted Dr. Lang has been with Oakwood since May 2011 and said Dr. Lang indicated a desire to complete projects before departure. The board also accepted the retirement of Kathy Cash, a second-grade teacher at Smith Elementary School, effective May 31, 2025; the superintendent noted Mrs. Cash has been with Oakwood since June 2005.
Separately, the board accepted two supplemental resignations (assistant junior high wrestling coach and ACT prep course instructor) and approved a slate of substitutes pending completion of required documents. The board authorized payment of $600 to Debbie Drake for services performed as an accompanist for the high school choir during the first semester of the 2024-25 school year; that payment will come from the vocal music student activities account.
All personnel actions were approved on roll-call votes.
