Board hears elementary remodel nearly finished; high school bid schedule set

Board members received an informational update Jan. 13 on several district facilities projects, including an elementary remodel and the high school project.
Duncan (presenter) described progress at Roosevelt Elementary, saying he visited the site and saw library entry painting and shelving in place. "Starting with the elementary. You can see the work there on Roosevelt nearing the end there. I was up there today. They were painting the entry to the library," he said.
He told the board that Lincoln and Art River are at punch-list status with a small number of outstanding items. On the high school project, the district went out to bid last week and planned to open bids on Jan. 31. Duncan said the first bid group to be awarded is likely structural steel, precast walls and footings because of longer lead times; the remaining building trades will follow with work opening in February and March. He said fencing and demolition work is expected to start on April 1.
No formal actions were taken; the presentation was informational and the board did not vote on construction contracts at the meeting.
