ASAC staff describe proposal to move up to 228 students from Liberty High to Silverado High; no public comment recorded

At a Jan. 13 public input meeting, Clark County School District staff described a proposal to adjust high-school attendance boundaries that would move students from Liberty High School to Silverado High School in two subareas, which staff said would affect 51 students in Area A and 177 students in Area D, a total of 228 geographic students.
Tracy Murphy, director of demographics and zoning, told the Attendance Zone Advisory Commission the rezoning evaluation responds to master-plan development in west Henderson and projected enrollment growth in the Liberty High School attendance zone. Murphy said that if ASAC advances a zoning recommendation, the commission may choose to grandfather currently enrolled students in grades 9, 10 and 11 in the reassigned areas so that only incoming ninth-graders and newly enrolled students would be reassigned each year.
No members of the public signed up to speak on agenda item 2.03 during the Jan. 13 public input meeting, and staff indicated there were no action items required of ASAC at that time. As with other proposals presented that evening, Murphy said ASAC will consider public comment and deliberate at its Jan. 21, 2025, meeting; any final ASAC recommendation would be forwarded to the superintendent and to the Board of School Trustees for consideration on Feb. 27, 2025.
Staff provided boundary descriptions for the two subareas and figures for the geographic student counts but did not record any formal ASAC action or vote on the item during the Jan. 13 meeting.
