Resident requests more green space and a 3‑D site rendering for concession area at middle‑school site
Summary
At the Jan. 13 Bridal School Building Committee meeting, resident Rick Morrison asked the committee to reduce asphalt near the concession stand, add shade trees and provide a three‑dimensional rendering so the public can visualize proposed green areas; staff told him a follow‑up with details is expected at the committee's Feb. 3 meeting.
Rick Morrison, a resident involved with field layout and youth sports, told the Bridal School Building Committee on Jan. 13 that he found a stakeout that interfered with the softball infield and raised other site concerns during a recent visit.
Morrison said he had met with rec‑department staff and with a person identified as Lucas, who agreed the stakeout was “in the way.” He said the rec department and others expect updated information about relocating the stakeout and about a storage trailer at the site at the committee’s Feb. 3 meeting.
Morrison also asked whether the area between the first football field and the concession stand will be asphalt or grass. He said staff told him the area is “mostly asphalt” and that summer camps run by the recreation department would take place in that asphalt area. Morrison asked the committee to provide as much grass and “sizable shade trees” as possible and said that when trees reach maturity they would provide substantial canopy.
He asked for a visualization—a three‑dimensional rendering or an elevation drawing that clearly shows where green space and asphalt walkways would be—so “a common person will look at it and say, yeah. That’s what it’s gonna look like.” A committee member said staff and the architect could look into producing a simple 3‑D or thumbnail rendering that differentiates proposed grass from asphalt walkways; committee staff said they will follow up and try to have information for the Feb. 3 meeting.
The committee did not make a formal decision during the Jan. 13 meeting; the item was recorded as an agenda topic with staff follow‑up scheduled for Feb. 3.
