House Appropriations schedules Jan. 23 public hearing on Budget Adjustment Act

The House Appropriations Committee scheduled a public hearing on the Budget Adjustment Act for Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the committee chair said at the start of the Jan. 14 meeting.

The hearing will be held in the committee room and via Zoom. Speakers are expected to have two minutes to testify; written testimony will also be accepted and described in the committee press release, the chair said. The committee said it will review all in-person and written testimony as part of its budget adjustment work.

Committee leadership also noted expected changes to the committee schedule: a chairs-and-vice-chairs training around 2 p.m., and that the committee will begin at 9:30 a.m. the next day for judiciary and public safety hearings. Committee staff will publish portfolio assignments on the committee webpage and send members updated agendas and documents ahead of the public hearing.

The scheduling action sets the public-comment window for the Budget Adjustment Act and establishes the committee’s process for collecting and reviewing testimony before the committee returns to vote on language in subsequent meetings.

The committee took a short break after the announcement and continued its review of the bill language.
