Building & Land committee seeks legal opinion before clearing Menace Road property for fire station pad

Commissioner Thompson reported the Building & Land committee discussed clearing the Menace Road property behind the new fire building and constructing a pad.
“The committee voted to request from the county attorney opinion on if we may cross, proceed with the and receive estimates to clear the property and to add a pad,” Thompson said. He added that if the attorney advises the project must be bid, the committee will await that opinion before moving forward.
Thompson said the committee will reconvene after receiving the county attorney’s opinion and the estimates. No construction or contracting work was authorized at the meeting; the committee’s action was to seek legal guidance and cost estimates so commissioners can determine next steps and whether the project requires formal bidding.
