ABR approves Extra Space sign permit at 105 Albrecht Drive

The Architectural Board of Review on Thursday approved a sign permit for 105 Albrecht Drive to replace an existing wall sign with new Extra Space branding.
The board’s decision came after a brief presentation by Paul Risewski of Elevate Sign Group, who said the project is a like-for-like replacement and that the new Extra Space wall sign will be slightly longer but lowered so it remains below the village’s 20-foot height threshold. “We did the original signs for this facility … and now they're rebranding everything to extra space. So it's basically a like-for-like swap,” Risewski said.
Board members and staff said they had no substantive concerns. The board discussed visibility from U.S. 41 and identified a separate sign (sign C) oriented toward the right-of-way; no change to that sign was included in the application. Several members commented that the Extra Space logo is a different shape than the prior tenant’s sign but that the new sign fits the available space. Following informal discussion, a motion to approve the application was made and seconded; a roll-call vote recorded unanimous approval.
The approval allows the applicant to proceed with the replacement wall sign as submitted. The minutes and permit file should record the applicant as Elevate Sign Group and identify the tenant as Extra Space; no conditions or modifications were stated on the record.
