District project update: turf fields, intercom shipping delays, kiln electrical change order expected

Road work at Carden Park had started before break and was continuing more slowly while weather conditions persist. Sidewalk work on Pickett Parkway is out for bid after a pre-bid meeting produced a strong contractor turnout. Oak Grove was scheduled for a site walkthrough to start design work with Goldburn and work there would begin once school is out in June.
Intercom system installation was delayed by shipping problems but wiring started in some buildings; Parkway and Pickett were identified as the first schools to receive full installation once materials arrive. Fine-arts spaces saw work over the break: middle-school risers removed, new paint and carpet installed in band rooms, and auditorium carpet and paint ordered. The presenter said a change order would be brought to the board to support electrical upgrades for kiln installations because existing electrical boxes were undersized for the kiln loads.
On HVAC, the presenter cautioned that bond funding alone will not cover replacing Daikin units at all buildings and said district staff are evaluating where to prioritize bond dollars, in-house work and potential CIP funds for next year. Science, technology and STEM resources deliveries were reported as underway, with professional development planned to put materials into classrooms.
No formal board action was taken on these updates; the presenter said the district would return with a change order for the kiln electrical work at an upcoming meeting.
