Show Low City Council accepted the Savage Sewer Replacement Phase 1 as complete and approved related contract closeout actions at the meeting.
Staff reported the construction contract had been awarded on Sept. 3, 2024, to Apache Underground & Excavating LLC for $924,036. The work included removing the existing sewer main and installing approximately 25,100 linear feet (reported in staff remarks as 25,100 linear feet) of new 18-inch SDR 35 PVC sewer main, installation of nine polymer sewer manholes, sewer services and replacement of asphalt and concrete removed for the work. The project was partially funded by a congressional district spending grant that allowed up to $800,000 with a required 20% city match.
Because the low bid was about $925,000, staff identified additional scope to use more of the grant funds. The final project cost is $977,054, leaving a scope provision (net increase) of $53,018. Staff recommended accepting the project, approving the $53,018 scope revision, releasing retainage and initiating the two-year warranty. Councilman Hackett moved to accept the project at the final cost and approve the scope revision; Councilman Adams seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff said any grant-eligible share of the $53,018 will be paid from the grant (80%), and the city's match will be covered by existing budget line items for the project. The council approved release of retainage and the start of the two-year warranty period.
