Kenmore welcome sees four elder women moved into new senior women’s shelter; full capacity expected by March

Lake City Partners updated Kenmore City Council on the new Kenmore Senior Women’s Shelter, reporting that the not‑yet‑officially‑open facility already has moved four elder women off the street and expects to reach its full capacity of 26 by the end of March.
Michelle King (Lake City Partners) told council the rapid opening was possible because of collaborative local and county support. King thanked King County for funding and in‑kind donations — specifically six truckloads of chairs, cubicles, tables and carpets from county buildings — and the many local volunteers who cleaned, painted and furnished the space. She listed local residents and businesses who helped prepare the site quickly.
King credited the speed of the opening to coordinated public and private efforts and said referrals remain open. The council recognized the work and offered appreciation to the many volunteers and partner organizations involved.
