District staff demonstrated the Lee's Summit R-VII finance web page and document library, showing how the public can access monthly revenue-and-expense reports, vendor checks and electronic payments, budget books and audit reports.
"I want our community to know that every dollar that is spent by this school district is accounted for," Dr. Shelton, committee chair, said as staff navigated the district finance web page for the committee. Miss Pruitt demonstrated how a user can click the finance tile and access monthly financial documents that link to BoardDocs agenda items and downloadable, searchable PDFs.
As an example, staff searched a paper check register by vendor and found Belfonte (spelled in the register) with payments totaling $93,273.35 for November. Staff also demonstrated the ACH (electronic) payment report and searched for payments to activities director Mike McGurk, showing a small travel reimbursement ("$8") in the electronic payments report. The p-card report and prior years' financial documents and audits are also available through the finance page, staff said.
Board members praised the accessibility: "I appreciate all the work that was done on the website to try to help clarify access to information," Board Member Haley said. Board Member Ashley echoed that praise.
Staff said the finance page and searchable documents allow community members and board members to verify vendor payments, p-card usage and monthly financial reports, and encouraged the public to contact district administrators if they need help locating documents.
