District to buy endpoint security directly from vendor to save roughly $159,000 annually

Lee's Summit R-VII staff told the finance committee the district will move its existing endpoint security service to a vendor's education pricing, a switch staff said will reduce annual costs while keeping the same services.
"Recently, they've come out with education pricing, so it's actually going to save approximately a 159,000 per year, to go direct through that vendor," Dr. Whaley, a district staff member, said. He said the district will continue the same endpoint security services but would procure them directly instead of through the intermediary previously used.
"It's a good product. It served us well. We're currently using it, and there's a pretty substantial cost savings," Dr. Whaley added. The committee did not record a formal vote during the meeting; staff indicated the change would be reflected in procurement documentation returned for approval.
The presentation did not provide the vendor name, contract length, or start date. Staff said the service is currently in use and that the switch is expected to begin when contracting is complete.
