Apache Junction council organizes leadership, approves routine items; unanimous votes recorded

The newly seated Apache Junction City Council completed routine organizational actions on Jan. 7, approving the consent agenda, electing Robert Schroeder as vice mayor, designating Daryl Cross as acting mayor when the mayor and vice mayor are absent, and updating authorized check signatories to include Mayor Chip Wilson and Council member Robert Schroeder.

Mayor Chip Wilson called for the consent agenda to be approved; a council member moved to accept it and the motion passed on a roll-call vote. The council then conducted nominations and a vote for vice mayor under the city code and Robert Schroeder was selected by majority vote. The council also made a direct motion to designate Daryl Cross as acting mayor during any concurrent absence or disability of the mayor and vice mayor, and approved that motion by roll call. Finally, the council designated the mayor and Council member Robert Schroeder as required check signatories in addition to the city clerk.

Robert Schroeder thanked the council after his selection: "I want to thank every one of you guys. This means a lot to me. It really does that you put your trust in me in this and I'll try not to let you down." The council recorded each action as unanimous on the roll calls shown in the transcript.
