Lancaster County Council voted unanimously to rezone approximately 2.68 acres on North Rocky River Road from Rural Business (RUB) to General Business (GB) to permit expansion of a self‑storage facility. The measure was considered as Ordinance 2025‑1946 (planning case RZ2024‑2215).
Planning staff, represented by Miss Harden, said the applicant (Mr. Thompson) previously received approval for part of the parcel and had since secured adjacent property to expand the development. Staff and the Planning Commission concluded the rezoning is consistent with the comprehensive plan and the earlier approval for the nearby parcel; the Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval. No members of the public signed up to speak during the public hearing.
Council member comments included a district representative noting the applicant had sought to purchase the adjacent parcel earlier and that the current request simply completes the previously approved project. The council approved the rezoning unanimously, and planning staff asked that the council place the approval on the consent agenda for future meetings as an administrative convenience.
