Kerr County court approves beer sales at EasterFest, organizers to file with TABC

The Kerr County Commissioners Court on Jan. 13, 2025 authorized the county judge to submit a letter to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) approving the sale of alcohol at the Leadership Kerr County EasterFest at Flat Rock Park on April 19, 2025.
Dalton Rice, speaking on behalf of Leadership Kerr County Class 39, told the court the event runs April 17–20 with most public activity during the weekend and said organizers would file the TABC temporary-permit application. Rice and Amber Longingbottom said alcohol sales had been part of the event in previous years and that proceeds help local nonprofits. Rice and Longingbottom said organizers would use wristbands and other measures to verify age (21+) for sales.
A member of the public, Nikki Cains, spoke during the meeting opposing alcohol at a family and faith-oriented festival, asking why it was necessary. Commissioners and organizers responded that alcohol sales have historically contributed to nonprofit revenue, that security plans (including extra-duty law enforcement) were in place and that the sale would be limited to beer. The sheriff’s office confirmed extra-duty deputy coverage would be available depending on projected attendance.
The court authorized the judge to prepare the letter to TABC; the motion passed by a 4–1 voice vote. Court minutes show the court approved the broader Flat Rock Park use (for setup and cleanup April 17–20) unanimously.

Organizers will file a temporary permit application with TABC and coordinate security and crowd controls; the court directed staff to ensure the dog park and other public access would not be impeded during the event. The approved letter is a prerequisite for the TABC application.
