The Prescott Valley Town Council on Jan. 9 voted unanimously to amend the town code to add a regular-agenda approval step to the meeting order of business and to formalize the process for screening applicants to advisory boards and commissions.
Town attorney Mr. Legler presented the ordinance amendment, which the council read and approved as ordinance number 2025-948. The ordinance revises town code section 2-04-060 to add an agenda-sequence approval by the full council early in each meeting; the ordinance will take effect 30 days after passage and approval, as stated on the record.
Mr. Legler also presented a resolution that formalizes the longstanding practice of appointing a council subcommittee to interview and vet advisory-board applicants and modifies the process so subcommittee appointments occur annually in December. The council approved resolution number 2025-2401, which also made initial appointments to the subcommittee; the transcript records that three members and an alternate were appointed but does not list names in the hearing record.
Both the ordinance and the resolution passed by electronic vote and were recorded as unanimous on the clerk's roll call. Council did not indicate any dissent and directed staff to implement the procedural changes.
