The Revere City Council approved the municipal election calendar and opted in to early voting for the 2025 cycle during its Jan. 13 meeting.

Election Commissioner Fahey presented the calendar and recommended one week of early voting for preliminary and municipal elections, noting state law requires two weeks for state general elections but allows municipalities to opt in for local contests. Fahey recommended early voting for a seven-day period that includes a weekend to increase access for working voters.

The council voted to approve the calendar and the early-voting opt-in. If a preliminary election is required, it is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025; proposed early-voting dates for that preliminary election are Sept. 6–12, 2025. The regular municipal election will be Nov. 4, 2025, with early voting proposed for Oct. 25–31, 2025. Commissioner Fahey said the calendar will be returned to the election commission for any procedural refinements if the council seeks a different early-voting length.

Councilors discussed whether to extend early voting to 10 days, and the commissioner said the board could consider that request but recommended following the commission’s process first. The council approved the schedule by voice vote.
