Ralston board elects 2025 officers, publishes committee assignments

The Ralston Public Schools Board of Education held its annual reorganization at the first meeting of the year and elected officers for the 2025 term, then announced subcommittee appointments and meeting schedules.
The board elected Ross Murray as board president. Liz Kumru was elected vice president, Samantha Wiley was elected secretary and Mary Rorty was elected treasurer. Each nomination was moved and seconded from the floor and carried by voice vote. One board member recorded an abstention during the president vote.
The board also set subcommittee rosters for 2025: Teaching and Learning will be Katie Krause and Liz Hoover; Human Resources and Finance will be Carrie Huff and Samantha Wiley; Building and Grounds will be Meredith Nordy and Robin Richards. Board members said the committee meeting cadence will generally be the fourth Monday for Teaching and Learning and the second Monday for HR and Finance, with Building and Grounds scheduling as needed.
Board members noted the reorganization is an annual procedural item required at the first meeting of the year. Several members thanked departing staff and teachers during board updates and flagged upcoming events including the NASB legislative conference.
The board moved on to later business after approving officers and committee assignments.
