Staff reports: building permits rise to 628 in 2024; one commissioner to attend remotely through March

During the Jan. 13 meeting, planning staff reported that Pennington County issued 628 building permits for the year, up from 556 the previous year. Staff said there were 179 single-family residential building permits in 2024, compared with 103 the prior year, and noted that the Apple Valley subdivision currently accounts for about 40 active building permits.
Planning Director Britney Molitor presented the building-permit totals as part of the staff report. A commissioner announced they will participate remotely by Zoom beginning with the next meeting through March, and that they expect to return in person on April 14 and be absent for the second April meeting.
No other staff items requiring formal action were recorded on the agenda.
