Commissioners allow emergency management coordinator to use EMS building room for storage

Shaw said he expects to seek grant-funded equipment (projector, screens, first-aid kits, canopies, coolers, trailer staging) where possible to avoid county expenditures.
Commissioners confirmed Hamilton EMS staff had agreed to cover modest utility costs such as electricity and internet for the space. One commissioner asked whether the county would incur supply costs; Shaw responded that much of the equipment would be obtained through grant programs and that the county’s insurance pool showed a small line-item budget for emergency coordinator supplies. Another commissioner suggested waiting until the next budget cycle; the court instead approved a motion limited to storage use.
Action: Commissioner Williams moved to allow the Emergency Management Coordinator to use the EMS building room for storage; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The motion as approved specified use for storage and staging rather than establishing employment or a full-time county office for the coordinator.
