School committee approves several routine actions, amends collaborative membership and accepts donations

The committee voted to approve the amended collaborative agreement after district staff and the collaborative’s executive director described the purpose of the consortium: discounted out‑of‑district programming, professional development offerings, and a regional consortium that vets educational software and security standards. The motion passed by voice vote; committee members said the collaborative provides substantial operational and student‑service benefits.
The committee also voted to accept a $20,000 gift from Meditech, a recurring annual philanthropy to the district that this year increased from $15,000 to $20,000. District staff said the donation is used for technology‑related needs and thanked the company for its support.
The committee approved the consent agenda, which included several donations and grant awards presented in the meeting packet: Mass Cultural Council grants of $5,000 each for the Luce School cultural night and for CHS photo projects; other donations included instruments, concert sponsorships and school supplies. Committee members thanked staff and volunteers who prepared grant applications and noted that some awards came from staff‑initiated applications.
Votes taken at the meeting were routine and procedural in nature; the district said staff will post grant and donation details and notify program leads so funds are used consistent with donor intent.
