Buckley to receive $41,900 to help offset EMS responses for National Forest and Crystal Mountain

Chief Scobin told the Buckley City Council at its Jan. 7 study session that the city will receive an additional $41,900 to help offset the expense of providing emergency medical services in National Forest and parkland areas, a payment the chief said was confirmed by Council Member Morrell27s office about 45 minutes before the meeting.
"About 45 minutes before the meeting, we were informed by Council Member Morrell's office that the city will be receiving an additional $41,900 to help offset the expense of providing EMS to the National Forest Service, Parkland, whatnot," Chief Scobin said. He added the funding is not conditioned on the city providing the service.
Chief Scobin also said that since Crystal Mountain opened for the season the city has been dispatched there once and that Olympic Ambulance recently provided multiple transports that the city did not have to perform. He said Olympic Ambulance had handled 16 transports as of the prior day, helping keep a Buckley paramedic unit available for local service.
Councilors received the update as positive news; there was no formal motion or vote on the funding at the study session.
