Board member Brian to leave Parks Advisory Board for new job; colleagues thank him

At the Jan. 8 Parks Advisory Board meeting, a long-serving board member identified only as Brian said the Jan. 8 meeting would be his last after more than seven years on the board.
Brian told the board he had accepted a new job with Auburn School District that extended his hours and would make it difficult to guarantee attendance at monthly meetings. “I got a new job opportunity at Auburn School District, which ... extends my hours a little bit. I wouldn't be able to guarantee I'd make it to these, and I'm not the type of person that wants to do something if I can't be sure I'm going to be here,” he said.
Members thanked Brian for his service; one board member said, “You have truly been an amazing park board member,” and staff acknowledged his volunteer work at events. Brian said he expected to continue attending some events and joked about returning if his new schedule allowed. He adjourned the meeting at 7:01 p.m. and said he would miss the board.
