The Gig Harbor Arts Commission agreed on a timeline for its Creative Endeavor grant during its Jan. 8 meeting and said the application would be posted this week.
Commissioners discussed adding a timeline in the application form so applicants list proposed start and end dates and any event date tied to a funded project. The commission also asked that applicants include expected attendance or number of participants; commissioners noted attendance figures are reported in the grant’s final report.
Members set a proposal schedule aimed at a March 3 application deadline so commissioners would have one week and extra time to review materials before discussing applications at the commission’s regular March 12 meeting. Staff confirmed they will distribute applications to commissioners as they arrive and commissioners will complete scoring matrices ahead of the March 12 review.
Discussion touched on available funding. Commissioners said the city’s adopted budget for the grant has been reported as either $30,000 or $35,000 in recent years; members asked staff to confirm the final figure. Commissioners recalled the commission had requested $50,000 in prior years but that actual appropriations have been lower. Commissioners also said the commission has in past years allocated smaller awards across more applicants when requests exceeded available funds.
The commission agreed to finalize the application materials and to post the call for applications this week so applicants have roughly six weeks to respond.
