Redmond staff preview Q4 capital program update; council requests details on projects in red

City staff told the Committee for the Whole on Jan. 7 that an updated fourth-quarter Capital Investment Program report will be discussed in greater detail at an upcoming study session and asked council members which projects they wanted highlighted.

Deputy Director Vangie Garcia and Capital Project Manager Steve Gibbs said the packet contains highlighted statistics and that staff can feature specific projects in the study-session slide deck. Garcia said staff would return for a study session on either Jan. 14 or Jan. 28 and would confirm the date.

Council President Kritzer asked for extra information on items flagged in red in the packet and specifically requested an update, to the extent possible in public, on the Evans Creek relocation project and recently completed projects. Council member Nueva Camino asked for an update on the Northeast 70th Street shared-use path. Council member Fields asked staff to provide projected percentage completions and whether projects targeted for late 2024 or first half 2025 were on budget or running over.

Steve Gibbs said the capital group prepares a full slide deck each month and staff will bring project slides and additional information requested by council members to the study session. Garcia said staff would take today’s input and tailor the presentation to the topics council members identified.

Garcia asked the council which project the group should feature; members asked for highlights on items with red status, updates on Evans Creek relocation and the Northeast 70th Street shared-use path, percentage-completion estimates for recently targeted projects, and the status of EV charging and bike-safety initiatives. Staff said they will include those topics in the slide deck for the scheduled study session and confirm the date.
