Kern County Public Works celebrated completion last month of the East Roberts Lane and Panorama Vista Preserve Greening and Connectivity Project, a $1,500,000 effort that county materials describe as a full reconstruction of East Roberts Lane, added landscape improvements and roughly one mile of bike lanes to increase access to the Panorama Vista Preserve.
A county speaker described the road before the work as heavily deteriorated: "This road was in shambles. It was in grave disrepair, Potholes, we've incorporated into the county system. We've brought it up to our standards. I can see people, using it. It's a better condition." (Transcript attribution: county staff member.)
County officials said the project improves safety for drivers and cyclists, helps stables and nearby neighborhoods, and aims to increase public access to the preserve. The county characterized the work as bringing the road "up to our standards" and said the new lane configuration accommodates cyclists entering the preserve.
The county did not specify the funding source in the transcript. For more project details, the county directs residents to kerncounty.com.
