Board authorizes acquisition of sewer easements to support campus sewer upgrades

The board authorized administration to acquire four sewer easements on parcels north of the district’s main campus to allow the City of Greenwood to upgrade sewer capacity.
Dr. Taylor explained the easements are adjacent to the Brent Ridge Estates area and that Greenwood Sanitation asked the district to obtain the easements so the city could approve and expand sewer capacity affecting the campus and neighboring subdivisions. The easement work is coordinated with Lennar’s nearby residential development, Taylor said.
“Making those improvements was a requirement from the city of Greenwood for us to be able to expand anything on our main campus,” Dr. Long (district administrator) said. He described the work as a requirement for future expansion on the north and south ends of the high school campus and said the district partnered with Lennar on the effort.
The proposed action authorized administration to purchase, obtain or otherwise acquire the necessary easements; the board approved the motion by voice vote. The transcript records “the ayes have it” after the motion. No purchase prices were listed in the presentation.
Board members thanked administration and noted the project had been in progress for about 18 months; the district did not report immediate changes to campus operations tied to the easements.
