Buellton issues proclamations recognizing Human Trafficking Awareness Month and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Mayor David Silva read a proclamation recognizing January 2025 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month in Buellton and calling attention to local and county efforts to prevent and respond to trafficking. Anne McCarty, introduced as executive director of the North County Crisis and Child Protection Center and a member of the Santa Barbara County Human Trafficking Task Force, accepted the proclamation and thanked the council for supporting the task force’s collaborative work.
The council also presented a proclamation recognizing Jan. 9, 2025 as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Deputy Derek Taylor of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office accepted that proclamation and expressed appreciation for the recognition and continued partnership on public‑safety matters.
Both proclamations were ceremonial acknowledgements and did not direct city policy or require action beyond the presentation.
