Village staff presented an informational tree management plan Jan. 9 that would engage Penn High Consulting Group to develop a plan, pursue grants and support Tree City USA certification; no board vote was required.
Village staff briefed trustees Jan. 9 on a proposed tree management plan intended to help Indian Head Park pursue grants and improve urban forestry on public land.
Staff said the plan would help the village apply for external funds to plant trees in parkways and on public property and support the village’s efforts to obtain Tree City USA certification and a Tree City USA growth award. The village plans to engage Penn High Consulting Group, operated by Thomas Brannen, to develop the plan and assist with grant applications. Brannen was described as an arborist with urban-forestry experience who previously worked for the village in public works.
The presentation was informational only; staff said no board approval was required at this stage and invited trustees to follow up with questions. Trustees and the tree and landscaping committee previously reviewed and concurred with the concept, staff said.
