On Jan. 9 the Peabody City Council moved the city’s snow-emergency policy into the Legal Affairs Committee and asked staff to schedule a subcommittee meeting that will include Police Captain Richards and other department heads.
Councilor Gamache requested that Captain Richards be asked to address the council on snow-emergency concerns. Other councilors noted the item was already before the Legal Affairs Committee and asked that a subcommittee be scheduled ‘‘as soon as possible,’’ with a suggested date noted for Jan. 23.
Councilors said the subcommittee should include the relevant department heads so the city can review enforcement mechanics and any proposed policy revisions ahead of the winter season. The motion passed and the clerk will arrange the committee meeting.
No ordinance change was adopted at the meeting; the action was a committee referral and a scheduling request for departmental discussion.
