The motion was moved by Trustee Herrera and seconded by Trustee Cortezi and passed by voice vote recorded as 5-0.
The board and administration described the meeting as an opportunity for deliberative exchange: trustees asked for an interactive forum where board members, district staff and community stakeholders could pose questions and pursue lines of inquiry in real time rather than receiving one-way public comment. Trustee Herrera said he wanted the meeting “to be an exchange of views” that would yield clarifications and information the administration could use when preparing the LCAP.
Superintendent Glenn Vandezy confirmed administration’s willingness to work with trustees Herrera and Cortezi to schedule and convene the meeting. Trustees and legal counsel also confirmed the approach was intended to comply with the Brown Act’s public meeting rules.
