The Peabody City Council on Jan. 9 received a late communication that included an updated map related to a potential purchase of city-owned land and moved to refer the matter to the Finance Department and to Community Development for review.
Councilor Gamache introduced the updated map and asked the council to move the issue to the Finance Committee. Councilor McGinn asked that the referral also include Community Development. The city clerk said the city would send the request to all departments for review and then schedule a committee meeting with Legal Affairs if appropriate.
Councilors stated the map was helpful for initial review. No purchase agreement, price, or parcel identifiers were read into the record during the meeting; the council did not take further action beyond the department referrals and the planned interdepartmental review.
Next steps: the clerk will circulate the communication to city departments for comment and the council will schedule committee review in Finance and, if required, Legal Affairs after departmental feedback.
