Mayor George Brown told the Jan. 9 council meeting the city will ramp up street sweeping and a pothole‑patching initiative as weather permits and that staff have prepared enforcement letters for graffiti removal by property owners.
Brown said the city has a hotline for potholes and graffiti and urged residents and council members to report problems to administrative assistant Lisa Sanfilippo; he said the city’s permanent patching machine allowed staff to patch more than 500 potholes last year. The mayor also reiterated that a 1995 graffiti ordinance makes building owners responsible for removal and said enforcement letters have been drafted and will be sent when weather permits removal efforts.
No new budget appropriation or firm timetable was recorded at the meeting; the mayor asked residents to cooperate with reporting and noted personnel and equipment are prepared to act when conditions permit.
