Senator Klein asked committee chairs to announce when and where their panels will meet over the next two days, and a string of senators reported specific meeting times and rooms for standing committees.
The request came shortly after roll call established a quorum. "I'd ask that all the committee chairman make the announcement as to when and where their committees are gonna be meeting in the next 2 days," Senator Klein said.
Senators then provided times, rooms and, in several cases, listed committee members. Highlights included: - Agriculture and Veterans Affairs Committee: 9 a.m. Thursday in the Fort Union room; members named were Senators Mehrdal, Lam, Weber, Weston, Marsolais and Lueck (Senator Lueck announced this meeting). - Judiciary Committee: 8:45 a.m. tomorrow in the Peace Garden Room (announced by Senator Larson). - State and Local Government Committee: 9:15 a.m. Thursday and 8:45 a.m. Friday in J216 (announced by Senator Rohrs). - Human Services Committee: 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Lincoln Room and again on Monday (announced by Senator Lee). - Education Committee: 8:30 a.m. tomorrow in JACE 216 for a short meeting, followed at 9 a.m. by a joint meeting with the House Education Committee in the Coteau Room; members listed included Senators Lem, Axeman, Gearhart, Wabamaw and O'Shea (announced by Senator Beard). - Industry and Business Committee (IBC): 9 a.m. in the Fort Union room; members named included Senators Barda, Boehm, Anget, Kessel and Klein (announced by Senator Bridal). - Workforce Development Committee: 9 a.m. Thursday in the Fort Lincoln room and 9 a.m. Friday (announced by Senator Wammer). - Transportation Committee: 9 a.m. Thursday in the Fort Totten room (announced by Senator Clemens). - Appropriations Committee (full): 8:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Harvest Room and again at 1 p.m., plus Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; division chair meetings on Friday were referenced (announced by Senator Beck et al.). - Appropriations HR division orientation: 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Harvest Room (announced by Senator Deaver). - Energy and Natural Resources Committee: 9 a.m. Thursday in the Peace Garden Room followed at 9:45 a.m. by a joint meeting with the House in the Coteau Room, and again Friday at 9 a.m. in the Coteau Room (announced by Senator Patton). - Finance and Tax Committee: 8:45 a.m. tomorrow in the Fort Totten room (announced by Senator Weber). - Appropriations — Education/Environment division organization: 8:30 a.m. in the Sakakawea Room (announced by Senator Sorobaugh). - Appropriations — Government Ops division: 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Red River room (announced by Senator Wanczyk).
The announcements covered meeting times and rooms but did not include agendas or bill lists. Several senators corrected room names during the announcements; Senator Lee clarified that his committee would meet in the Sakakawea Room to avoid confusion.
The session then moved on to other business, including a unanimous-consent withdrawal of Senate Bill 2103 and a recess for a joint session with the House.
