The Plainfield Community School Corp. board approved nominations and several appointments during its Jan. 9 meeting.
The board voted to nominate Jessica Elston to continue as board president, Daniel Nolan as first vice president, Brad Boyse as second vice president and Margaret Bloomberg as secretary. The board also appointed Jed as parliamentarian, Danielle Bell as legislative liaison and as the district’s delegate to the Indiana School Boards Association annual convention, Mark Jodovich as delegate to the redevelopment commission, and Stacy Smith to serve as treasurer.
The nominations were made from the floor and approved by voice vote. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the public record; the chair called for “All in favor?” and members answered “Aye.”
Why it matters: Board officers and delegates determine who carries the board’s positions to external bodies and who manages internal procedures. The appointments include the district’s representation to the Indiana School Boards Association and the redevelopment commission and designate the treasurer responsible for district funds.
The board handled the organizational items as the first substantive agenda block after public comments and student recognitions. The motion to nominate Elston and subsequent nominations for vice presidents and secretary were each seconded and approved by the board. Appointments for liaison and delegate roles were presented and accepted without further debate.
Board members did not request additional documentation during the organizational vote. The board moved on to consent and financial business following the organizational items.
