Johnson County Purchasing on Jan. 9 recommended award of term‑and‑supply contracts to 14 dealerships for the county’s 2025 vehicle purchases under IFB 2024‑068, with an aggregate not‑to‑exceed amount of $6,000,000 annually.
Robin Lines, purchasing manager, said 204 firms were notified and 14 responded; all 14 bidders are recommended for contract awards. The list includes Cable Dahmer of Topeka; Gary Crossley Ford LLC; Landmark Dodge; MHC Kenworth; Olathe Chevrolet Inc.; Nextran Truck Centers; Olathe Ford; Premier Truck Group of Kansas City; Robert Chevrolet Buick; Rush Truck Centers of Missouri; Shawnee Mission Ford; Stateline Nissan; Tesla Inc.; and Yeager's Cycle Sales Inc. Contracts cover a wide range of vehicles including heavy‑duty trucks, sedans, utility and pickup trucks, vans, police vehicles, special‑service utility vehicles, all‑electric and plug‑in hybrid vehicles, and police motorcycles.
Lines said the awards are available through the Mid‑America Regional Council cooperative procurement, allowing other government agencies to piggyback on the contracts. Participating governments listed in the briefing sheet include municipal and county agencies across the Kansas City metro area. Funding for vehicle purchases will come from the fleet fund and individual department budgets; Fleet Services will return to the board with the vehicle replacement plan for 2025 and will solicit quotes from awarded dealers at the time of purchase to secure the lowest cost provider that meets specifications.
Lines said the county is the contract administrator and that other agencies using the contracts will handle their own purchases and invoicing. The item was placed on the Jan. 16 business session agenda; no formal vote was recorded at the Jan. 9 agenda review.
