Leader Heights building project is 55% complete, district says; power and gas connections nearing

Construction on the Leader Heights building is about 55 percent complete, the district’s construction manager told the board on Jan. 9.
Mister Kendall summarized site and building progress: exterior brickwork continues with temporary heating on scaffolding, interior finishes including paint, drywall and ceramic tile are underway, and terrazzo flooring and ceiling grid work were to begin in coming days. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough‑ins were concentrated on the first floor and nearing completion.
Kendall said the electrical duct bank to the building is complete and that a transformer was expected to be set the next day though crane availability briefly delayed placement. He also reported that Columbia Gas confirmed a schedule to bring gas to the site in about a week and a half. The project manager said these steps keep the project on schedule.
Board members and staff praised the project team and asked about staff readiness; district staff said morale among teachers and staff is high and that transition planning with York Township staff included team meetings and orientation events prior to the move.
