Student representatives report winter athletics, concerts and upcoming district events

Rachel Joseph and Anna Chen reported on South’s winter sports and arts events. Joseph noted South’s boys and girls swim teams hosted the Pirate Invitational — the 43rd running of the meet — with the girls placing second and the boys first; the boys’ 200 medley relay broke a 16-year meet record. Chen highlighted recent and upcoming South activities including spirit week, a pep rally, multiple winter concerts, and plans for a Student Council “Winter Wonderland” event for elementary students and a junior college-planning event for families.
A student representative from High School North said North’s boys basketball started the season 8–0, the swim team was 3–1, and the fencing team had recently won consecutive matches. North’s student council will host the Harlem Wizards event Jan. 17, featuring district teachers in a fundraiser and community event.
The board thanked the student representatives for their reports and noted continued interest in district athletic and arts programming.
